If you want to know what keywords your competitors are using, check out their website traffic logs. These records show the keywords that your competitors' users typed into Google in order to find their site. As a general rule, it's always better to focus your efforts on keywords that have low competition. 

Optimizing your content 

After you've chosen a good set of keywords, you should start work on optimizing your content. This means that you'll write articles and blog posts that include these keywords, create videos that talk about your area of expertise, and develop other kinds of media that showcase your knowledge of the subject. 

To increase the chances that you'll be found by users who type certain keywords into search engines, make sure that the content on your site is relevant to those keywords. To determine whether your content is optimized properly, look at the number of times each keyword appears in the article. Ideally, each keyword should appear within the first 10-20% of the text.

Those links indicate that other people believe in what you're doing. 

Your best bet for finding new sites to link to is to identify popular blogs in your field and contact them directly.
